ABOUT WWWOW

1. What is WWWOW Awards?

WWWOW Awards is Malaysia's and only Internet for All Awards. It is based on 100% user-generated entries to showcase the incredible creativity, ingenuity and entrepreneurialism of ordinary Malaysians using the Internet in extraordinary ways to inspire others. It is Initiated by DiGi but supported by 19 partner brands and companies who believe in the power of the Internet to transform collaboration, community & commerce.

2. What is the duration of this campaign?

This campaign is broke down to a few phases as follows:

  1. Official Launch & Call to Entry - 18 Maya - 23 June '13
  2. Call to Vote - 3 June - 23 June'13
  3. Judging and Shortlisting - 24 June-5 July '13
  4. Award Night & Winner Announcement - 6 July '13

SUBMITTING ENTRIES

3. How can I be sure you've received my entry?

We will have a confirmation page if your entry is successful.

4. How do I edit an entry that I have already submitted?

It's easy! All you have to do is follow these simple steps:

  1. Step 1: Click on 'My Entry' to access your profile page - it is located at the top right corner of this site, right next to the 'Login' button.
  2. Step 2: From your list of entries, find the entry that you want to change, and then click 'Edit'.
  3. Step 3: Click 'Save' after you have made all the necessary changes to your entry. You can also view your entry before saving by clicking 'Preview'
5. Does the entry need to be in English?

Not necessarily. However, entry title must be in English or BM.

6. What do I need to submit if I want to participate?

For all Social media accounts, websites, blogs & photos must include URL/website address.

7. Do I have to register in order to submit or vote in the website?

Yes. This is a mandatory requirement. You can also register via Facebook, Twitter and Google+ Connect.

8. What are the criteria for submission for each of the categories?

GENERAL CRITERIA:

  • NO political, racial, seditious, sexual, defamatory entries or subjects allowed.
  • Entries must be original and submitted by the creator - NOT be borrowed or plagiarized.

Fave Tech Head by Lowyat.net Open
  1. Gadget, motoring, web and innovation experts who really know their stuff - you see through all the jargon and hype and you share your knowledge generously with others
  2. Your content is frequently followed, quoted, retweeted, sometimes even debated. Your insights - however controversial or provocative - are always respected
  3. Your unique creativity, personality and obsessive geekiness is why you are Malaysia's answer to Top Gear, Engadget, Mashable or Wired

  1. Shops that sell any kind of great stuff online that people want to buy
  2. Shops that sell stuff in unique and unusual ways - maybe it's the cool photos or the quirky writing or your one-of-a-kind styling

  1. A blog is really a platform to express your views, personality, opinions and feelings online. We're looking for someone with a truly unique voice, who has used blogging to share a part of themselves with others online
  2. There is no restriction or limitation to how you use your blog, as long as your stories are as original and creative as you are
Video of The Year by Says.my Open
  1. You have a great story on camera - snappy, short and not too long. Say, between 30 seconds to 4 minutes.
  2. You have got at least 1 video that proves this
Most Inspiring Internet for Good Award by Innity Open
  1. Your idea inspires people to do something good for others
  2. You've used the amazing power of the internet to spread awareness, recruit members, raise funds, educate, mobilise, empower and/or bring people together for a good cause
Top Online Over-Achiever Under 16 by IACT Open
  1. You must be below the age of 16 as of 1 Jan 2013.
  2. You must have used the web to share and/or showcase your talent with others e.g. Blog, Youtube, FB profile, twitter ,Flickr, website, online store, etc.
Shorty Blogger of The Year by Churp Churp Open
  1. Short/Micro blogs - Any interest, any subject
  2. FORMAT - Short sentences (like tweets), an image or two (like Instagram or tumblr) or video links.
  3. YEAR OF POST - no earlier than January 1, 2006
PhotoStory of The Year by Yahoo! Open
  1. A Good Story - each of your image(s) or video(s) - you can submit up to a maximum of 3 per submission - tells an interesting story about a community, trend, event, person or place that entices your readers to want to know more.
  2. Craft and Composition - Maybe you waited patiently for the perfect shot at the perfect moment, maybe you used your charm to persuade your subject to warm up to your camera, or maybe you have a knack for always being at the right place at the right time. Whatever the reason, you managed to get that perfectly composed shot that tells your story perfectly.
Youtube Breakthrough Star of The Year by Google Open
  1. Awesome talent in any form of performance - preferably on video
  2. Your performance is viewable online - submit the URL (preferably a shortened link of your performance on YouTube, Yahoo!, MSN, Vimeo or a blog)
Social Media Gathering of The Year by MalaysiaKini Open
  1. How was social media used to interest, mobilise and rally a crowd
  2. Uniqueness of the event itself - what made the gathering more fun, or more worthwhile or more cool than other events happening at the same time
App of the Year Award by InMobi Open
  1. Performance (# of subscribers)
  2. Innovation (# of Internet services enabled)
  3. Must be a DiGi's existing partner
  4. User experience (content is navigation-friendly, easy to use interface)

  1. You're the chosen one of the netizens! The most votes of any wwwow entry in any category will guarantee you the top-spot. Yes, you'll be the wwwow-est of the wwwows, who is crowned by the people. Go from a dream to doing bigger with more votes today. Make it count!
The Best of The Best - The DiGi WWWOW Of The Year 2013 Open
  1. The judges cream-of-the-crop choice! This is awarded to the single most inspiring wwwow. Your entry has even the judges wishing they had created it - WWWOW idea, website, video, blog, performance, gathering or innovation; just everything about it. Only one will be receive the honour of the DiGi WWWOW of The Year 2013! From the topmost finishers in all 14 categories comes the Big Dreamer, who's destined to Do Bigger!

9. Which categories am I allowed to enter?

Submissions are only for the OPEN Category.

10. What is the difference between the CLOSED and OPEN categories?

OPEN category: Open to members of the public. There are 13 categories.
CLOSED category: Nominees are selected by DiGi and its panel of judges.

11. Can I enter in more than one category?

Yes. But only in the OPEN Category. You may also submit multiple entries in the same category.

VOTING

13. How can I vote?

You must first register via Facebook or Twitter for access to the voting engine.

14. How many times can I vote for each entry?

You may vote for different entries from different categories. However you are only allowed to cast ONE vote for each entry per day. If you wish to vote for that same entry again, you may only do so the next day.

15. Once I submit my Vote, can I cancel my vote?

No, once your vote is submitted, you cannot cancel your vote.

WINNERs

16. How many winners will be selected from this award show?

There will be one winner for each category.

17. How are the winners selected?

There will be 2 tiers for the winner selection.

  1. Tier 1: Based solely on number of Votes. The Top 50 entries with the MOST Votes for each category will be shortlisted as Potential Winners.
  2. Tier 2: A panel of Judges will then evaluate the entries of these top 50 shortlisted Potential Winners and select the BEST ENTRY for the category based on the criteria mentioned above as the ultimate winner.

19. What do I get if I win a WWWOW Award?

Each winner will receive a commemorative trophy as well as a prize items worth more than RM5,000 for each category. Please refer to the wwwow.my website for details of the prizes.

20. Will there be a special prize giving event to honor the winners?

Yes, winners will be required to attend the award ceremony at a designated Starbucks outlet on 6 July 2013.

21. What if I am unable to attend?

You may opt to receive your prize at a later date. However, the organizers must be informed about how you wish to collect your prize.
